Finance In Your Pocket is a set of free financial calculators built to answer specific, everyday questions: what your mortgage payment would be, what you'd take home from a paycheck, how much you'd save by paying off a loan early, or what year you could reach financial independence. It started as a single compound interest calculator and has grown into a wider catalog since.
Who maintains it
The project is maintained by Víctor Gil Vázquez. You can get in touch through the contact page with questions, corrections, or suggestions for new calculators.
How results are calculated
Every calculator runs entirely in your browser: the numbers you enter are never sent to or stored on any server. Each calculator has its own calculation engine, documented in the project's source code, with a plain-language explanation of the formula on the page itself where it applies.
Sources for regulatory data
When a calculator relies on a figure set by law or regulation (federal tax brackets, FICA limits, retirement contribution limits, and similar), that figure lives in its own constants file in the code, dated with when it was last verified against an official source (IRS, SSA, CFPB, Federal Reserve). When a figure can't yet be confirmed against an official source, it's explicitly marked as pending verification instead of presented as final.
Even so, every calculator simplifies reality to give you a useful result in seconds: none of them replace the exact figures a CPA, tax preparer, or your bank would work out for your full personal situation. The notice next to each result and the Terms of Service page spell out that limitation.
